Korea Joongang Daily reported that South Korea’s second largest steelmaker Hyundai Steel is expanding its H CORE seismic steel range of high quality earthquake-resistant structural steel offering advanced performance and safety. Hyundai Steel has relaunched the H CORE brand with a focus on premium structural steel with expanded functionality and a wider range. Having already ensured that the safest steel is available for the construction of buildings, Hyundai Steel is now focused on strengthening the safety of the entire construction process, from planning to building and maintenance through the H CORE range. H CORE is high-strength, impact resistant and corrosion resistant. Compared to general purpose steel, high-strength products have about 20-30% higher strength, insuring better structural stability. Hyundai Steel has opened a website as part of the H CORE rebrand, offering information about the features and products available under H CORE. To emphasize the safety of H CORE, the highest quality steel available, Hyundai Steel also released a slogan; Safety planted, Security H CORE. Hyundai Steel first launched Korea’s first seizmic structural steel under the H CORE brand in 2017, in an effort to reduce loss of life and property due to the collapse of buildings during earthquakes. The high-performance steel has the flexibility to ride out the tremors caused by an earthquake, increasing the safety for residents when used in construction. Hyundai Steel also introduced the world’s first fire-and-earthquake-proof structural steel to enhance the safety of buildings in extreme conditions in 2019, and developed a high-strength version to reduce the quantity of material required in 2020.
