In reality, these levels do not have relevance as imports prices have been much above these levels since mid-2017, except for a brief period in mid-2019-2020, and are currently in the range of USD 800-1000 per tonne CFRDirectorate General of Trade Remedies had initiated the original investigation concerning imports of “Hot-Rolled Flat Products of Alloy or Non-Alloy Steel originating in or exported from China PR, Japan, Korea RP, Russia, Brazil & Indonesia and “Cold Rolled or cold reduced flat steel products of iron or Non-Alloy Steel, or other Alloy Steel of all width and thickness not clad, plated or coated originating in or exported from China PR, Japan, Korea RP and Ukraine” in April 2016 and provisional anti-dumping duty were imposed in August 2016, followed by definitive Anti-Dumping Duties in May, 2017. The Directorate General of Trade Remedies had concluded in its findings that cold-rolled products are being dumped by companies from China, Japan, Korea and Ukraine and hot-rolled goods are dumped from China, Japan, Korea, Russia, Brazil and Indonesia and had recommended the imposition of definitive anti-dumping duties on 14 September 2021. While Directorate General of Trade Remedies recommends the duty, the Department of Revenue takes the final decision to impose the duties.
