ISEND Develops New Surface Quality Control System for Nucor

The North American steel maker Nucor has entrusted Spanish technology company ISEND with the complete quality assurance of all the material manufactured in a new line of recently installed special steels. NUCOR has found in ISEND the perfect ally to face the challenge of optimizing its manufacture and raising quality to levels unattainable by conservative manufacturers and with facilities from another era. It is a strategic project with which the manufacturer is committed to innovation and high performance as a workhorse in the steel market for the automotive market.
The project comprises of industrial implementation: digitization, registration and artificial intelligence applied to quality control build a fundamental pillar for the management of the manufacturing. The project has required the development of new platforms, interfaces and web functionalities adapted to the current times where the presence of work has proven not to be necessary. These developments allow access to multiple levels of information adapted and sectored by departments, making possible detailed and specific studies remotely.
The possibilities that Artificial Intelligence provides at an industrial level have allowed ISEND to achieve levels of automation never seen before; allowing to measure, correct and improve in real time in search of perfection, optimizing processes and products to levels that are difficult to achieve.
Spain Valladolid’s Boecillo Technology Park based ISEND was created in 2006 by José Bernárdez and Carlos Rodríguez, two engineers that 10 years ago decided to leave their job positions in big companies to start a new project. ISEND is a company specialized in the development of technological solutions for the detection of surface defects in steel and other metals. They are characterized by their reliability, high levels of service, and low maintenance costs.
