Local media reported that JSW Steel USA will restart production at 1.65 million short ton per year upgraded electric arc furnace at Mingo Junction in Ohio in US. The mill will produce 12 inch slabs that can be re rolled into hot rolled coil, sold as slabs to third parties, or shipped to JSW's plate and pipe mill in Baytown in Texas. JSW Steel USA had idled its electric arc furnace in Mingo Junction due to declining demand in September 2020. It began the process of removing the EAF for replacement with a new Tenova Consteel EAF with the same capacity.

JSW Steel Ohio Plant has capability to produce 72 inches wide Hot Rolled coils in this region. The plant comprises of 3 million tonnes per annum 80 inches wide hot strip mill equipped with automatic roll changers, roll bending, and hydraulic automatic gauge control.
