WPDE reported that Liberty Steel Georgetown will continue to roll wire rod as a deadline has passed for the city council to officially appeal the June decision by the Zoning Appeals Board. That decision threw out the claims by the city's former zoning administrator which called for the closure of the mill based on the timeline it was closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Liberty Steel cited the city manager's promise to recognize the 1 February 2021 restart date. That consequently nullified the zoning clause that allows the city to pull a business's favorable land status if the site remains unused for roughly a year.
