Sideralba Maghreb has become SM Tunis Acier after partnership agreement was signed in Milan, between the entrepreneurial families Marcegaglia and Rapullino. The company, "formed by an equal joint venture between Marcegaglia Carbon Steel and Sideralba, will strengthen its business in the sector of processing cold and galvanized coils. Backed by an initial investment plan of 10 million euros and important industrial synergies, SM Tunis Acier aims to double production, passing, by 2023, from the current 200 to 400 thousand tonnes of product, for an estimated value of EUR 500 million. The plant now has 320 employees and is located in the Economic and Industrial Park of Bizerte in Tunisia.The Tunisian asset enjoys a geographical position that: gives it an important competitive advantage, also thanks to the presence of a multisectoral hub that combines heavy industry with technology.
