Russian Mechel Group’s Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant has supplied pilot batches of multi-strand ropes and polymer ropes of new diameters to domestic and foreign mining enterprises. BMK has manufactured polymer-coated steel ropes of 7 new diameters according to three technical specifications of its own design and one foreign standard. These ropes are used as components on domestic and foreign mining excavators. The polymer is applied both to the rope itself and to its metal core. The coating protects the ropes from wear, dynamic loads and aggressive media, prevents internal breaks in the wire, excludes contact between the strands of the rope and the metal core. Thanks to the use of such products, equipment downtime is reduced, and the costs of its operation and repair are reduced. In addition, BMK has produced multi-strand ropes of two diameters according to foreign standards for consumers from neighboring countries. These ropes can be used on mining excavators and hoisting machines. Multi-strand ropes have increased flexibility and strength, increased technical resource and resistance to torsion around their axis. In addition, due to their larger supporting surface, the contact stress both on the ropes themselves and on expensive equipment parts: blocks and pulleys is reduced.
