Russia’s leading miner & steelmaker Metalloinvest announced that In connection with the widespread statement of the SBU about the alleged storage by Mr Alisher Usmanov's companies of Ukrainian iron ore in underground warehouses of Russia in the seaports of Ukraine and intentions for its possible export to the territory of Russia, said that information is not true, is absurd and deliberately misleads the company's partners and media representatives. Metalloinvest said “In fact, the Ukrainian authorities seized, without any legal basis, iron ore raw materials produced by Metalloinvest's enterprises in Russia and intended for its buyers abroad.” Metalloinvest added “In February 2022, the Ukrainian authorities blocked the export shipment of these goods, which were transiting through the territory of Ukraine under existing contracts, in particular, to European consumers. Thus, we are talking about the seizure of old commercial cargo intended for foreign buyers, which was illegally carried out by the Ukrainian authorities. The fact that the arrest of the cargo, the location of which the Ukrainian authorities knew for almost a year, has been officially announced only now, speaks exclusively about the PR tasks of this action.”
