Russian iron ore miner & steelmaker Metalloinvest has launched a pilot operation of a concentrate enrichment complex CDP at the Mikhailovsky GOK named after AV Varichev. In the new pre-enrichment housing, with investment of RUB 15 million, various types of concentrate with an iron content of up to 71% and a low content of silicon dioxide will be produced. The total production volume will be up to 16.4 million tonnes per year. This will make it possible to obtain a concentrate for the subsequent production of blast furnace pellets with improved characteristics and pellets for metallization DR-grade. By improving the quality of pellets, Mikhailovsky GOK will expand export opportunities and strengthen its position in the Russian market. The use of high-quality pellets of Mikhailovsky GOK will allow consumers to reduce emissions during steel smelting using the blast furnace converter technology by 7-19%, and using the electric furnace" technology by 47%.KDO implements technology using fine wet screening, pre-grinding and flotation. The main equipment includes 24 high-performance screens, 3 energy-efficient vertical mills of ultra-fine grinding, 58 flotation pneumatic mechanical units. The construction of the new production started in 2020. A building with a length of almost 150 meters and a height of over 30 meters was erected. The total area of production facilities is about 10 thousand square meters.
