Russia’s leading miner & steelmaker Metalloinvest has completed the modernisation of roasting machine No 4 at the Lebedinsky GOK pelletizing plant. The design capacity of the machine has been increased by almost 10%, to 2.5 million tonnes of pellets per year. At the same time, a reduction in gas and electricity consumption has been achieved, which will have a positive impact on the cost of production. A modern gas cleaning system using an electrostatic precipitator will reduce dust emissions by 50%. Investments in the project amounted to about 2 billion rubles. During the modernization, the area of the pellet drying and cooling zones was increased. A new flow collector was installed, which is necessary for transporting the coolant between different zones of the OM, modern injection burners have replaced the outdated burners. Three smoke exhausts were replaced with higher pressure and dust-resistant ones. The horn part and collectors of the firing machine were lined with refractory concretes.
