Russian steel maker Metalloinvest’s Alexey Ugarov OEMK has commissioned a unit for demagnetising high-quality SBQ rolled steel products. 2 more similar demagnetisation units from Czech company ZDAS will be commissioned at the enterprise by the end of 2022. Metalloinvest’s investments in the equipment will amount to 35 million roubles. Improving SBQ quality is one of the enterprise’s key strategic development areas. The new equipment will ensure that OEMK products meet the highest standards and allow us to expand our list of potential partners. The reduction of magnetisation to a specific level in SBQ rolled products is a requirement from global producers of automotive components, aircraft parts and ships. For the enterprise's customers, the residual magnetisation in rolled products is a negative factor when processing them, as it causes metal chips to stick to machined surfaces, working tools and fixtures, in turn increasing the risk of product rejection or emergency situations.
