Ukrainian steel maker Metinvest announced that the converter shop of Kametstal steel mill has resumed operation after a forced shutdown due to power supply restrictions due to massive enemy shelling. Metinvest said “The team of metallurgists of the workshop works selflessly and professionally. During the period of forced downtime, they carried out restoration work on continuous casting machines on their own, repaired crane equipment, and also audited the mechano, electrical and power equipment of both converters. Therefore, the main units were prepared as much as possible for launch into operation.” Currently, the operation of converter No 2 and the continuous casting machine No 3 has been resumed at Kametstal. There are also units of the oxygen compressor shop, providing the necessary components of steelmaking redistribution. Gradually, under conditions of uninterrupted power supply, other production equipment will resume operation. By the end of this year, the company plans to produce steel for the production of rolled products.
