All divisions of Russian steel maker MMK Group of Companies continued to work to improve energy efficiency in 2020 which resulted in significant achievements in the development of the energy management system. In 2020, according to the results of the measures implemented under this program, energy savings per year for PJSC MMK and the organizations of the PJSC MMK Group amounted to over 120 million rubles. And the total economic effect from the implementation of various areas of energy efficiency improvement in the PJSC MMK Group in 2020 reached 267.3 million rubles.
Among the important areas for improving the energy efficiency of production processes in the MMK Group is the development and implementation of relevant rationalization proposals. In total, in 2020, 771 energy-efficient ideas were submitted through the special application "Energy Management Platform", of which 188 were implemented with a planned annual economic effect of 98.5 million rubles. In addition, last year 7 low-budget high-performance projects (baby-capex) were implemented, the planned effect of which is a total of 30.3 million rubles.
In October 2020, PJSC MMK successfully passed the first supervisory examination of the energy management system for compliance with the requirements of the new version of the international standard ISO 50001: 2018.
In July 2020, the first official Sustainability Report of PJSC MMK was published in corporate practice, compiled in accordance with the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative. The report includes the results of the Company's activities, including in the area of energy efficiency improvement, which is one of MMK's priority tasks.
In 2020, PJSC MMK received the International Energy Management Insight Awards in the field of energy conservation and energy efficiency of production in accordance with the international standard ISO 50001.
