Russian steel maker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works had completed the construction of a new cold rolling complex at Rolling Mill No 11 in 2012 and on 16 July 2022, the second phase of the large-scale project was put into operation in the presence of Russian President Mr Vladimir Putin. Its main purpose is the production of high-quality cold-rolled and galvanized steel for the automotive industry, manufacturers of household appliances and the construction industry. The technological equipment of the complex includes a continuous pickling line for turbulent pickling in hydrochloric acid, combined with a five-stand cold rolling mill with a capacity of 2.1 million tonnes per year; continuous hot-dip galvanizing unit with a capacity of 450,000 tonnes per year; combined continuous annealing & hot-dip galvanizing plant with a capacity of 650,000 tonnes per year. The total cost of building the complex was about USD 1.5 billion. The first stage of the complex tandem Cold Rolling Mill 2000 was launched in July 2011. A year later, the second stage of the complex was commissioned. Over the years of operation of MMK's high-tech and modern cold rolling complex, its products have been highly appreciated and approved by the country's automotive industry enterprises: both traditional domestic automakers and foreign automakers localizing their facilities in Russia.
