Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) is preparing to launch an advanced longitudinal and cross-sectional slitting line at its production and logistics centre in the Togliatti Special Economic Zone. With a capacity of up to 90,000 and 60,000 tonnes per year respectively, these cutting-edge lines can process a wide range of coated, hot-rolled pickled, and cold-rolled steel, offering enhanced capabilities for the Company. The slitting lines are designed to handle steel coils with a metal thickness ranging from 0.35 to 3.5 mm, a width of 850 to 1900 mm, and coil weights of up to 35 tonnes. The equipment boasts the ability to produce up to 14 cuts, each with a minimum width of 100 mm, ensuring precise and efficient processing.MMK's production and logistics centre, which commenced operations in the Samara region in July 2022, aims to enhance sales through the implementation of the Company's Just in Time marketing concept and to strengthen its logistics capabilities. Leveraging a smart warehouse management system and digital technology, the centre has the capacity to store and process up to 150,000 tonnes of products simultaneously. By optimizing storage and processing, MMK can now deliver products by road within 1-2 days, resulting in cost savings for customers. Additionally, the centre has expanded its customer base to include companies without their own access railways. One of the notable advantages of the centre's multimodal delivery system is the use of containers to transport steel products. This eliminates the need for metal frames, which typically require separate maintenance, storage, and return processes. By streamlining transportation, MMK can ensure efficient and hassle-free delivery to customers. The production and logistics centre not only offers storage and cutting services but also provides repackaging and metal testing facilities to ensure compliance with industry standards. This comprehensive range of services enhances customer convenience and supports MMK's commitment to delivering high-quality products.
