Mr Dempsey is President & CEO of American Iron and Steel Institute
The American Iron and Steel Institute Board of Directors have named Mr Kevin Dempsey as president and CEO of American Iron and Steel Institute. Mr Dempsey had been serving as interim president and CEO since June when he was appointed to succeed Mr Thomas J Gibson. Prior to that appointment, Mr Dempsey had served as AISI’s senior vice president for public policy and general counsel since 2009.
Before joining AISI, Mr Dempsey was a partner at Dewey & LeBoeuf, a global law firm, and its predecessor Dewey Ballantine LLP and had served on Capitol Hill as counsel to Senator John C Danforth (R-MO) and the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.
Dempsey has, and continues to, work extensively on international trade negotiations given his considerable experience with U.S. and international law related to subsidies, trade remedies, market access, intellectual property rights, and product standards, as well as U.S. legislative procedures for authorizing and implementing trade agreements.
Dempsey received his Juris Doctor Degree from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Washington University in St. Louis.
