Mr Klaus Enwald has been appointed as the new President of Business Unit Imatra. He starts his new role January 1, 2021 and succeeds Mr Janne Pirttijoki, who has decided to take on new opportunities outside Ovako. Mr Klaus has been employed at Ovako since 2015. He started as Human Resources manager for Business Unit Imatra and has during the last year been the VP Head of Product Unit Steel & Rolling Mill. Prior to Ovako, Mr Klaus worked as Head of labor relations at Paroc OY. He has also worked in various roles within production, maintenance and HR at UPM Kymmene Oyj.
Ovako’s Imatra facility is situated beside the beautiful Lake Saimaa and the Vuoksi river in south east Finland and employs around 600 people. Like all Ovako steel, the steel from Ovako in Imatra is based entirely on recycled scrap, making the company one of the largest recyclers in the Nordic region. Its steel is used by world-leading customers in a number of areas, including power transmission and transformer equipment, axles, gears, crankshafts, springs, bearings, bolts and mining tools. Imatra’s most famous product is M-Steel, which is steel developed for cost savings and improved productivity in the customer’s process.
