Nigerian daily The Nation reported that Nigeria’s President Mr Muhammadu Buhari has signed an Executive Order No 11 for maintenance of Public Building as he presides over virtual FEC Meeting held at the Council Chambers State House Abuja. The Federal Executive Council has approved a contract that will ensure the revitalization and operation of the Ajaokuta Steel Company and the National Iron Ore Complex at Itakpe in Kogi State of Nigeria.Addressing State House Correspondents after the week’s virtual FEC meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture Mr Lai Mohammed said that the contract worth NGN 853.25 million (USD 2 million) is about appointing contractors that would run the process of concessionning the companies. Mr Mohammed said the Council’s decision was in response to one of the two memoranda presented by the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.Ajaokuta Steel, located in Ajaokuta in Kogi State of Nigeria, is built on a 24,000 hectares site starting in 1979. The steel plant itself is built on 800-hectares of land. The chosen technology for steel production was Blast-Furnace Basic Oxygen Furnace.
