Russian steel maker Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant has launched a new complex for laser processing of electrical transformer steel with a capacity of 54 thousand tonnes per year. This is the fourth line for the production of metal with improved magnetic properties at the sites of NLMK Group. Laser treatment of the metal surface at the final stage of production allows to reduce specific magnetic losses by 8-10%. For customers, this makes it possible to produce energy efficient transformers in accordance with the growing market requirements.NLMK Group is the only transformer steel producer in the CIS and holds more than 10% of the world market. NLMK is currently building a new transformer steel plant in India with a capacity of 64,000 tonnes per year.
