Russian steel maker United Metallurgical Company OMK delivered 830 tonnes of insulated large-diameter pipes in 2021 end for the development of an oil and gas condensate field in the Far North Russia. At the request of the customer, OMK also developed special packaging metal cassettes designed to protect products during transportation, including by sea. The order, including packaging, was completely manufactured by OMK's Vyksa plant.Pipes with a diameter of 530 mm were produced with a factory anti-corrosion outer coating, with a heat-insulating layer of polyurethane foam and with a protective sheath of galvanized steel. The plant's specialists also ensured increased requirements for the mechanical properties of pipes, which are due to their use at low temperatures (up to minus 60 degree Celsius. In addition, OMK developed and manufactured a package design metal cassettes, the strength of which should ensure the possibility of safe storage and transportation of pipes in at least three tiers. To do this, it was necessary to coordinate new shipment schemes with Russian Railways and conduct additional tests for pipe collisions in a flat car. The test results confirmed the safety and preservation of the marketable product.
