Russian United Metallurgical Company OMK has started production of railway wheels for the Lastochka high speed passenger electric train in Russia in 2021. Since 2016, OMK has been supplying Siemens Mobility wheels for Swallows designed for operation at speeds up to 160 km per hour, but earlier these were only pilot batches of limited volume. The partners completed the procedure for organizing the serial production of wheels for Lastochka in 2021. OMK shipped more than 1.8 thousand of these wheels for Siemens Mobility in 2021.In addition, Siemens Mobility specialists began controlled operation of OMK wheels for the Sapsan high-speed electric train, which can accelerate to 250 km per hour. It is planned that following the results of controlled operation, which will end in mid-2022; the parties will discuss industrial supplies of wheels for Sapsan.Wheels for high-speed and high-speed trains are manufactured at the Vyksa Steelworks of OMK in the Nizhny Novgorod Region of Russia.
