SAIL, Tata Steel & JSW Steel Step up Oxygen Supply to ight COVID19

India’s primary steel producers, accounting for largest share of country’s oxygen production capacity, are continuing to step up Liquid Mediacl Oxygen to save lives. As per latest information, Steel Authority of India Limited is now supplying more than 1100 tonnes per day, Tata Steel has stepped up to about 1000 tonnes per day and JSW Steel is ramping up the production of oxygen to 1,200 tonnes per day at all its steel plants in the country.

SAIL said that the daily delivery of LMO from its integrated steel plants situated at Bhilai in Chhattisgarh, Rourkela in Odisha, Bokaro in Jharkhand, Durgapur & Burnpur in West Bengal has been increased from a level of about 500 tonnes in the 2nd week of April to more than 1100 tonnes per day currently. In the month of April, 2021, SAIL has delivered more than 17500 tonnes LMO to 15 states across the country including the states in which the plants are located.

Tata Steel informed about ramping up the oxygen supply limit to 800 tonne a day on April 28 from 600 tonne per day earlier from its plants in Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar. Tata Steel tweeted"#TataSteel supplied 1000+ tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen yesterday (Monday) and 25,700 tons cumulatively till April end to various states & hospitals."

Meanwhile, JSW Steel is also ramping up the production of oxygen to 1,200 tonnes per day at all its steel plants in the country. Of this, it is manufacturing 860 tonnes at its steel plant in Toranagallu. Out of 860 tonnes of oxygen produced at its plant, it has supplied 430 tonnes to Karnataka state including 209 metric tonnes to Bengaluru city.
