thyssenkrupp Materials Services divests its Spanish subsidiary, thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Lamincer S.A.U., to GRUPO ARANIA, aligning with its strategic shift towards core operations. The sale, undisclosed financially, reflects a targeted portfolio approach to reinforce the company's "Materials as a Service" vision.
thyssenkrupp Materials Services has finalized the sale of its subsidiary, thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Lamincer S.A.U. in Mungia, Spain, to ARANIA S.A.U., part of GRUPO ARANIA. This divestment reflects the company's strategic commitment to refining its operational focus.
The sale marks a pivotal step in thyssenkrupp's portfolio reconfiguration initiated in 2019 under the "Materials as a Service" strategy. thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Lamincer, specializing in cold-rolled materials, aligns less with the core business scope of materials distribution and service provision.
Martin Stillger, CEO of thyssenkrupp Materials Services, views this divestiture as an advancement in their business alignment. He expresses optimism in ARANIA's capabilities, envisioning prosperous opportunities for the site under new ownership.
Established in 1986, thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Lamincer became part of thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Europe in 2009. Presently employing 75 individuals, the site focuses on carbon cold-rolled strip, structural steel, and micro-alloyed materials, boasting an annual capacity of approximately 40,000 metric tons.
Despite this divestment, thyssenkrupp Materials Services maintains its presence in Spain through various entities, including thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Europe, thyssenkrupp Plastic Ibérica, and thyssenkrupp Materials Ibérica.
Grupo Arania, a key player in steel processing, boasts a history dating back to 1940, excelling in steel divisions like cold-rolled strips, welded tubes, and storage systems. With a significant global presence, including five production locations across 65 countries, the group's sales turnover stands at €500 million, employing over 1000 individuals.
thyssenkrupp Materials Services' divestment of thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Lamincer aligns with its strategic realignment, focusing on core business activities. The acquisition by GRUPO ARANIA promises a new chapter for the divested company, while thyssenkrupp remains committed to its targeted business model.
