SSAB and Ruukki Construction will donate steel roofing materials for house reconstruction in Ukraine via the charity OperationAid. Almost 20 metric tons of steel will also be contributed to create approximately 620 field stoves, aiding those affected by the conflict.

SSAB, along with its subsidiary Ruukki Construction, pledges support to Ukraine by donating Ruukki roofing products for house reconstruction through OperationAid. These materials, manufactured at the Ruukki plant near Kyiv using SSAB steel, include roof profiles, flashings, and fasteners. They can either reconstruct 16 houses entirely or repair numerous houses partially.

The charity OperationAid focuses on addressing critical needs in Ukraine, procuring funds, and delivering humanitarian aid and medical equipment. This initiative marks SSAB and Ruukki's continued assistance, following a similar donation in December 2022.

Martin Lindqvist, SSAB's CEO, emphasizes their commitment to supporting Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict and praises the dedication of Ukrainian employees continuing their operations amidst adversity.

Ruukki's presence in Ukraine spans 26 years, with 71 employees in the country. Their plant near Kyiv operates on specific days per week, contributing to local aid efforts.

Christina Friborg, SSAB's Head of Sustainability, highlights the significance of this donation in aiding Ukrainians during severe winters. SSAB has previously supported Ukraine through donations to UNCHR, the UN refugee agency.

SSAB's and Ruukki Construction's donation of roofing materials and steel for field stoves signifies ongoing support for Ukraine's reconstruction efforts. This commitment aligns with their previous aid initiatives, emphasizing solidarity and assistance to alleviate the challenges faced by Ukrainians affected by the conflict.
