European leader in special long steel Swiss Steel Group has selected the cloud-based platform Metalshub for its raw material procurement activities. The four European business units of the Swiss Steel Group, Ascometal, Deutsche Edelstahlwerke, Ugitech, and Steeltec will strengthen their competitiveness by using the innovative software tool starting from March 2021. Swiss Steel Group is successfully driving forward the digitalisation of its processes and activities by implementing a digital procurement solution. The cloud based platform Metalshub will be used for purchasing a significant proportion of raw materials and will be integrated with the ERP system to ensure efficiency as well as synchronised and effective data visibility for the whole organisation.
With more than 1,100 companies registered on Metalshub the digital platform not only supports the negotiation process between raw material sellers and buyers, but also the qualification, on boarding and management of new partners. Suppliers can upload REACH-registration documents, ISO certificates and sustainability reports via the platform. In addition, Metalshub is publishing the first fully transaction-based price indices for ferroalloys.
Metalshub is one of the pioneers of digital transformation in the metals industry. The software start-up was founded in 2016 in Düsseldorf by Dr Sebastian Kreft and Dr Frank Jackel with the vision of connecting companies in the industry with a digital platform. Digital supply chains can help reduce costs and CO2 emissions. More than 1,000 companies are already using Metalshub, including more than 200 foundries and steel mills that have digitised their purchasing processes with Metalshub. In 2020, more than USD 300 million in purchasing volume was concluded through Metalshub.
