Brazilian oil & gas giant Petrobras has awarded leading seamless pipe maker Tenaris a four-year contract for the supply of a comprehensive package of products and services for its flagship Buzios deep water project. The total volume of the contract exceeds 100,000 tonnes of seamless and welded casing, in carbon, sour service and high collapse steel grades. For this demanding project, Petrobras has selected TenarisHydril BlueDock weld-on connectors, as well as TenarisHydril Blue Heavy Wall, Blue Max and Wedge 623®premium connections, all with the environmentally friendly Dopeless technology.Tenaris will supply Petrobras using its Rig Direct service model, with pipes delivered at the port ready to be run at the offshore rig. As part of these services, Petrobras will use PipeTracer technology, a digital solution that allows users to access products’ technical specifications, including running guidelines, and create digital tallies, eliminating the need for manual measurement, improving accuracy and simplifying operations. To support well integrity, field services specialists will accompany Petrobras operations at the rig.The production of pipes will take place at Tenaris’s mills Confab in Brazil, Tamsa in Mexico and Dalmine in Italy.Located in the Pre-salt Santos Basin, Buzios is among the largest deep water oil and gas fields in the world. Production is expected to reach 2 million barrels per day by 2030, up from a current 0.7 million barrels per day. This equals approximately 70% of today’s total production in Brazil.
