Russian steel pipe maker Pipe Metallurgical Company TMK’s Pervouralsk Novotrubny Plant has mastered the production of high-precision pipes up to 14 meters long for the petrochemical industry. The first batch of more than 130 tonnes was delivered to the Republic of Tatarstan. New pipes made of steel grades 09G2S and 20 are intended for installations for cracking petroleum products and for the synthesis of chemicals and will be used in the manufacture of heat exchange equipment. The products were manufactured at the site for the production of specialized pipes of the pipe drawing shop No 14 of PNTZ. Products with a diameter of 20 to 25 mm with a wall thickness of 2 to 2.5 mm are distinguished by a special surface quality and high accuracy: the tolerances are 0.1 mm in diameter on carbon steel grades, 0.2 mm on alloy steels.The production of a new type of pipe became possible thanks to the modernization of thermal facilities at PNTZ. As previously reported, within the framework of the project, the structure of the furnace was lengthened, a protective gas pipeline was installed, heating elements and instrumentation were replaced. Also, in order to meet the strict requirements for quality and geometrical parameters, the technological process was improved - the tolerances at the cold pipe rolling mill were changed, control over the equipment settings was strengthened, and metal pickling was excluded.A large-scale multi-stage project to modernize pipe heat treatment equipment has been implemented at PNTZ since 2021. The volume of investments is more than 500 million rubles. The implementation of the project will allow the enterprise to reduce the consumption of resources and expand the range of high-tech products.
