American Iron & Steel Institute announced that in the week ending on 9 April 2022, domestic raw steel production was 1,739,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 79.7 percent. Production was 1,787,000 net tons in the week ending April 9, 2021 while the capability utilization then was 78.8 percent. The current week production represents a 2.7 percent decrease from the same period in the previous year. Production for the week ending April 9, 2022 is up 0.9 percent from the previous week ending April 2, 2022 when production was 1,724,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 79.3 percent.North East: 169 KNTGreat Lakes: 539 KNTMidwest: 210 KNTSouthern: 745 KNTWestern: 76 KNTTotal: 1739 KNTAdjusted year-to-date production through 9April 2022 was 24,650,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 80.2 percent.
