American Iron & Steel Institute announced that in the week ending on 21 May 2022, US’s domestic raw steel production was 1.789 million net tons while the capability utilization rate was 82.0%. Production was 1.834 million net tons in the week ending 21 2021 while the capability utilization then was 81.0%. Last week’s production represents a 2.5% decrease from the same period in the previous year however it is up 0.2% from the previous week ending on 14 May 2022 when production was 1.785 million net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 81.8%.North East: 171 KNTGreat Lakes: 567 KNTMidwest: 208 KNTSouthern: 772 KNTWestern: 71 KNTAdjusted year-to-date production through 21 May 2022 was 35.199 million net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 80.3%. That is down 1.8% from the 35.843 million net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 78.7%
