Production was 1,223,000 net tons in the week ending May 15, 2020 while the capability utilization then was 54.6%. The current week production represents a 47.1% increase from the same period in the previous year. Production for the week ending May 15, 2021 is up 1.4% from the previous week ending May 8, 2021 when production was 1,774,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 78.1%. Adjusted year-to-date production through May 15, 2021 was 33,888,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 77.5%. That is up 7.3% from the 31,588,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 69.9%. Broken down by districts, here’s production for the week ending May 15, 2021 in thousands of net tons: North East: 151; Great Lakes: 616; Midwest: 187; Southern: 767 and Western: 78 for a total of 1799.
