Production was 1,906,000 net tons in the week ending January 23, 2020 while the capability utilization then was 82.4%. The current week production represents a 9.9% decrease from the same period in the previous year. Production for the week ending January 23, 2021 is down 1.2% from the previous week ending January 16, 2021 when production was 1,738,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 76.7 percent.Adjusted year-to-date production through January 23, 2021 was 5,635,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 75.8 percent. That is down 9.7 percent from the 6,243,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 82.4 percent.Broken down by districts, here’s production for the week ending January 23, 2021 in thousands of net tons: North East: 153; Great Lakes: 614; Midwest: 189; Southern: 692 and Western: 69 for a total of 1717.
