Article:

DHL recently finalized the acquisition of a substantial warehouse space covering approximately 115,000 square feet. This addition, nestled near their pre-existing 64,000-square-foot warehouse operational since 2011, marks a strategic move in expanding their logistical capabilities.

Notably, the new facility stands as a pinnacle of environmental consciousness, poised to attain a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating alongside an impressive EPC A+ rating. Key to this ecological endeavor is the installation of 1,900 square meters of photovoltaic (PV) panels atop the structure. These panels are designed to harness renewable energy, effectively powering the warehouse's 12,000 square feet of Grade A office space while ensuring its operations maintain a net-zero carbon footprint.

Embracing sustainability beyond the structure's confines, the surrounding landscape has undergone meticulous planning. The inclusion of hedgerows, diverse plants, and thoughtfully crafted green spaces is set to yield a commendable 39% increase in biodiversity. These efforts extend to the creation of new amenities beneficial not only to DHL's workforce but also to the local community. Among these enhancements are a trim trail, cycle path, and outdoor gym equipment, fostering a harmonious relationship between the site and its environs.

Speaking on the development, Ellen Thomas, the Senior Development Manager at St Modwen Logistics, expressed enthusiasm about the project's potential to support up to 150 employment opportunities.

The joint agency representation for St Modwen Park Gatwick is helmed by DTRE and BNP Paribas, facilitating the realization of this ambitious venture.

Conclusion:

DHL's expansion, coupled with its commitment to sustainability, marks a paradigm shift in the logistics landscape. The fusion of innovative eco-friendly practices with an eye for community welfare positions this initiative as a beacon of progressive corporate responsibility. The strides taken in creating an environmentally conscious workspace while fostering biodiversity and communal engagement exemplify a commendable blueprint for future industrial growth.
